Drivers Club Monthly | Edition 54 | November 2022

Month in review.

Dear members,

Another busy month has come and gone and dare we say it.. Christmas is just around the corner.

We started October with the Euroa Car Show with a great display of cars and many of them enjoying the drive up to the event.

____________________

On 4 - 10 October, a number of our members officiated at the very wet Bathurst 1000.  BMWDCM had volunteers in all sorts of places, from the events office with the Supercars team to working in scrutineering.  While it was very wet, the conditions were not as bad as we had been expecting with most of our members managing to stay warm and dry.  Read about how some of our members enjoyed the event as officials here and here.

____________________

On 7-9 October we were also invited to display with BMW Group Australia to celebrate 50 years of ///M at Motorclassica.  We had a fantastic display of M cars ranging from early to current and there were a few variations through the weekend with some cars coming in and out through the three days. The display attracted great interest from the general public.

____________________

11 October was our first swap meet at All Marque Storage where members were able to sell plenty of bits and pieces. A very big thank you to Matt and his staff for opening for us and holding our event and putting on the BBQ.

____________________

18 October was our monthly drop in donuts coffee night. It was great to see our regular attendees, with some new members popping by to say hi and enjoy the cars, coffee and, of course, the donuts.

____________________

We then held our first twilight drive for the summer season on 19 October which began at our new office in Hastings. The sunset at the top of Arthurs Seat was just beautiful, it was such a clear night you could see for miles.

____________________

On 22 October we held our first Motum Simulator Challenge, which was heaps of fun.  A few of our members got some great results and there was some great competitive racing on the simulators.

____________________

On 23 October we were invited to Melbourne BMW for their coffee morning celebrating 50 years of M.  We had a fantastic turn out of members. A very big congratulations to Melbourne BMW for putting on such a great event, it was great to be able to tour the newly rebuild dealership and see the four new M cars on display.

On 23 October we also held a display at the Future Vehicles Expo. It was great to see so many members attend to see and learn more about future electric vehicles.

____________________

And finally, we finished our month with 30 members heading off to Tasmania for our first club trip to Tassie.  Be sure to keep an eye out in the next newsletter to hear all about it!

Don't forget to catch up with this month's update from our President, Graeme Bell here.

The month ahead.

Here's what we've got planned in November:

Sunday, 6 November
Sandown Historics Car Display

Enjoy discounted entry into the wonderful world of historic motor racing including the "big banger" F5000 cars, Historic Touring Cars (not the Group A/C cars) plus much more - at least 10 categories altogether.

The display area will be on the Red Hill spectator area, which includes a raised area from where you can watch the racing from inside your car if the weather is inclement. A shuttle bus usually operates to take spectators to the pits and paddock area where there will be food vendors. You may also like to bring a picnic.

Friday, 11 November
All German Fest - Oktoberfest Car Display
Join us for a belated Oktoberfest all German fest car display.  A fun night for all with prizes for some who join in the Oktoberfest theme such as dressed in German costume.

Friday - Sunday, 25-27 November
Challenge Bathurst regularity - volunteers only
Challenge Bathurst is an invitation only event and we are very lucky to be invited to join in for 2022. Unfortunately competitor entries are closed, however if you are interested in volunteering, we'd love to hear from you!

Be sure to keep an eye on our calendar to stay up to date with our events.

If you're attending a social drive or weekend away, we recommend checking out our event tips to help you get the best out of the event.
