Melbourne Cup Day Drive
Bellarine Estate at Portarlington
Make Melbourne Cup Day special with an enjoyable drive through scenic countryside, finishing for lunch at Bellarine Estate near Portarlington.
We'll start our drive in the You Yangs. These are the prominent hills between Melbourne and Geelong, that everyone drives past but hardly anyone goes into. This is your opportunity! If you arrive early, there is a short walk and a longer walk to choose from to dramatic lookouts.
Reminder: you can use the TourBoss app to guide you to the start location, or follow the signs to the Turntable carpark.
We'll meet at 9.15am for a 9.50am briefing, before heading off at 10.00am sharp.
The drive will take us through the Brisbane Ranges north of Geelong, with a rest stop at Meredith. We'll then follow the Moorabool River valley to Geelong, then across to Bellarine Estate for lunch at 1.00pm.
Our Cup Day lunch will include sweeps and a raffle. We will also do a Cup day hat parade with prizes for the Best Mens and Womens hat.
Lunch is a Texas BBQ sharing boards with a dessert to follow.
After lunch, if you don’t want to head directly home, the coastal road east through Indented Head and St Leonards is scenic along the waterfront, or you can head down to Queenscliff for cafés, tourist shops, a historic wharf and lookouts. The Queenscliff-Sorrento ferry can take you to the Mornington Peninsula – check costs and sailing times.

To check your version, open TourBoss, click on the cog wheel for "Settings", and the version is displayed. To update, go to your Google or Apple store on your phone, search on TourBoss and click on Update.
We highly recommend you have a UHF radio with you on all our drives,
to be alerted to road hazards and for other communication. We will use channel 17.
