We're back at the Geelong Revival and in a new location, with our display taking up one side of the "Supercar Alley" on Eastern Beach Road alongside the main car display in Steampacket Gardens.
The Geelong Revival Motoring Festival revives the excitement and spectacle of the original Geelong sprints first run in 1956 and modelled on famous Brighton UK Speed Trials. Held on and around the Geelong Waterfront, the course is as picturesque as it is practical. The quarter-mile sprint is held along Ritchie Boulevard and the track is lined along one side by The Hill, forming a natural grandstand.
With an emphasis on the past history of vintage motorsport the motorsport action is supported by a number of car displays making a celebration of motoring culture. past, present and future Our display area, part of "Supercar Alley", is adjacent to, but not part of, the main display in Steampacket Gardens. With a dedicated area we will not be fighting for a spot.
Once our cars are parked in the display area you are free to wander, watch the sprints etc. There are plenty of activities going on. Note an entry fee applies to gain access to the sprints pits area.
You can see full details of the overall event here.
This is not a show and shine so any clean car is fine.
There will be strict traffic management arrangements in place because of the competition areas. Display cars MUST be in place before 8:30 am and cannot be removed until after the competition track closes which will not be before 4:15 but should be by 5pm.
We are required to meet up as a group outside the event area (we usually meet at Rippleside Park, full details will be provided nearer to the day) and proceed to our display space as a group. The timings for this will be advised closer to the event but you can expect to be at the meeting point by (that is, no later than) 8 am so that we can enter before the road closures take effect at 9am.
