Cancelled Torquay Motor Show/Great Ocean Road Cruise

  • 13 Feb 2021
  • 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM
  • McDonald's Geelong Bypass Southbound, 455 Geelong Ring Rd, Corio VIC 3214

Registration

Although the Torquay Motor Show has been cancelled for 2021 the pre-show event, the Great Ocean Road Cruise, is still on but in a different format, with the promise of some great roads and some fun.

Participants download route instructions and observation questions to answer and have it stamped as they follow an inland route to Lorne, returning along the Surf Coast to Torquay during the afternoon of Saturday, 13 February.
Sadly, the final instructions and timings do not align with those given when we planned this event.  So those joining our event will not be able to compete for prize awarded by the organisers. Members already registered elected to not change our departure time etc. So we will compete amongst ourselves. Or just enjoy the drive. Your choice.

Our plan is to meet at the rear car park (truck parking - towards the exit) McDonalds/BP Southbound (455 Geelong Ring Road, Corio VIC 3214) on the Geelong Ring Road which also has Red Rooster and Olivers.  There will be time for eat, drink and comfort if you arrive by 2:30pm for a 3pm departure.

Drive instructions also will be sent in the reminder email.

We should have completed the cruise and be back in Torquay by 6pm.

Once the cruise is completed we plan to go to the Torquay Hotel for a bistro style dinner at member's own expense, at about 6:30pm - 7pm.

If you are planning to stay overnight in the Torquay area book early - February is still part of their high season and places get booked out quickly. The Torquay Hotel has some accommodation but there are many other options, including the 20 minute drive back into Geelong.

We will be using UHF radios to communicate.  If you have your own, please use channel 17.  if you'd like to purchase your own, this radio is what many of our members use.

We do recommend all members have the COVIDSafe app downloaded on their phones, while this is not mandatory, it is recommended.

Please remember if you are feeling unwell, please stay home and seek medical advice if your symptoms persist.
